How do you select a restaurant for a special meal? Do you chase notoriety? Is it the location? The reviews? Or is it the menu that ultimately seals the deal? For me, Aloft checked more than one box. The menu looked amazing from the moment I saw it. What I didn’t realize until later was just how convenient the location would be. We were staying along Salamanca Row and, as luck would have it, the restaurant sat less than 300 meters away. Sometimes the universe gives you a small gift before dinner even begins. Aloft is perched on the third floor of the Brooke Street Pier building along the Hobart Marina, a polished space filled with boutiques, galleries, and restaurants that feel equally welcoming to visitors and locals. We stepped into the lift, rode up, and when the doors opened we were greeted by a long corridor that gradually revealed the dining room ahead. It felt less like entering a restaurant and more like walking into a working studio. Clean lines. Open sightlines. Quiet confidence in the design. At the far end, a wall of windows framed the harbor like living artwork. The water stretched outward toward the distant shoreline, shifting color as the evening light faded. To the right sat the plating area, where dishes were staged with quiet precision before making their way into the dining room. There was something reassuring about seeing the choreography behind the scenes. Nothing rushed. Nothing forced. Just steady execution. We were seated along the wall and I settled in for the chef’s set menu. The evening opened with oysters dressed in house mignonette, bright and briny in that way that reminds you exactly why Tasmania is known for its seafood. That was followed by wallaby paired with Balinese tomato sambal, a dish that carried just enough heat to wake up the palate without overwhelming the delicate flavor of the meat. Aloft was nothing short of flawless. My sister surprised me with a vegan chef menu dinner for my 40th Birthday and it was all incredible; the ambience, the views over the harbour, the service, the food art, right down to their palate cleanser and bourbon cocktail. It certainly was an experience and a half. Every bit of detail had a personal touch from the head chef, including little glimpses of his family and local landscape. Definitely a memorable dinner experience, that will be hard to beat in Melbourne! Thank you guys so much, cannot wait to come back.

An amazing dining experience. From the moment you enter, you notice the care. Of your seating, the introduction, the explanation of each course and the quality of each serving and delicious mouthful. I have a dietary restriction and they were so accommodating. I was really a highlight experience in Hobart. If you can get a booking, I highly recommend.

It's the best restaurant in Hobart for a reason. We ordered the vegetarian degustation and it was one of the best food experiences I've ever had. My only complaint is we were so full by the end it would have been nice to have an option without dessert. We ended up sharing it. And honestly I probably would have preferred to keep the high end experience from the other dishes and not eaten the sweet dish.

Just had the best fine dining experience ever! All 10 courses (added the extra eggplants), was a hit, could not fault. The views were stunning and interior was spot on. And to top it off, we were fortunate enough to be taken care of by Julia, she was so friendly and very attentive throughout, that it made the experience even better. Left satisfied and very happy to end our last night in Hobart. We will definitely be back when in Hobart again :)

We had the chefs menu for the evening. Sitting at the kitchen bar is an absolute must if you’re remotely interested in watching the amazing synergy of the kitchen and wait staff. From Cam’s enigmatic presence in the kitchen to Hedley’s service and wine knowledge. We walked away stunned with happiness and with extremely full belly’s. The lamb was an absolute stand out.

Easily the best dining experience I’ve had in Hobart! The warmth of the staff and skill of the chefs and sommeliers was fantastic! I had multiple moments where my mind was blown and that doesn’t happen easily! Thanks so much team for everything!

We went to Aloft for my partner's birthday, and we were blown away by the incredible dining experience we had. The service was very friendly and engaging, the food was top notch and the view of the harbour was breathtaking. We will definitely be back if we are ever in Hobart again!

Absolutely loved our meal at Aloft. We went for the wine pairing with the meal and it was absolutely fantastic. All of the food blew us away. Favourites were the lamb, the ox tounge, the calamari, the pork and the marshmallow. All of the food had very punchy flavours, much bolder than we're used to for tasting menus / chef selections like this. They were very accommodating too, subbing in an alternative snack instead of an oyster for my partner. The wine pairings were excellent and really elevated the experience. The staff were all very friendly, explaining every dish, wine and chatting with us. One of the staff gave my partner two compliments which she was thrilled about. We particularly liked when the chef sat with us. Loved the space, the atmosphere, and the music too. I couldn't recommend Aloft highly enough. 100/10 experience.

Amazing location and view! Staff were very friendly and welcoming, providing insightful explanations of the chef’s menu and each dish as they came out. This really added to the overall experience! Big shout out to Lilli and the rest of the staff who served us on the night and did a great job, we really appreciated the excellent, knowledgeable service and friendly conversations! The food was delicious and drinks were amazing! If you are looking for a well thought out and relaxing fine dining experience this is definitely one to check out!
